WARNING SIGNS PARENTS

What you need to LOOK FOR…

  • Change in attitude toward rules, parents, brothers and sisters.
  • Withdraws from family functions.
  • Isolates (staying in room, etc.)
  • Breaks curfew, sneaking out, becoming more secretive, many excuses for late hours.
  • Lies, blames others for irresponsible actions.
  • Violence – Physical and verbal.
  • Erratic sleeping habits; too much or too little.
  • Erratic eating habits; EXTREMES
  • Vagueness about company kept and where time was spent.
  • Strange telephone calls; callers hang up or refuse to be identified.
  • Complains but agrees, then fails to follow through with promises and agreements.
  • Secretive, shares little or nothing about personal problems.
  • Does not inform parents of school activities, open house, parent/teacher meetings, suspensions, warning etc.
  • Suspicion of money or alcohol missing in the house. .
  • Steals and/or sell possessions for money (clothing, records, gifts, etc.)
