FRAMINGHAM - A Framingham District Court judge today ordered the second Framingham man accused of raping a woman in the Market Basket parking lot in Ashland last month held on $50,000 bail.
Edwin Alexander Landaverde, 26, was arrested Thursday at 5 p.m. after police found him hiding at a Fountain Street residence.
Landaverde is accused of raping an 18-year-old woman on April 26 he had met when she was 14. According to police, Landaverde and his friend, William Martinez, 28, also of Framingham, encountered her while she walked through the parking lot on Pond Street.
Martinez pulled her into the car and held a knife to her throat while Landaverde raped her, prosecutor Kristen Noto said in court yesterday.
Defense lawyer Kenneth Gross called the woman's allegations "fabrications."
Landaverde, of 269 Franklin St., was charged with aggravated rape, assault with the intent to rape, indecent assault and battery and kidnapping. He was ordered held at the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge.
Martinez was arrested on Monday, and is also being held at the Middlesex Jail.
Both are due back in court on June 4 for a probable cause hearing.
